The idea was born in 1989, when West Gallery opened new doors to aspiring artists. It aimed to provide a new art venue for up-and-coming artists to explore their talents further. That has always been the vision of West Gallery, even as a it maintains a premium collection by Filipino visual arts greats National Artist Cesar Legaspi, Roberto Chabet, Malang, and National Artist Arturo Luz. It continues to keep an eye on fresh talent.
In the 1990’s, West Gallery expanded into SM Megamall in Mandaluyong to bring fine art closer to the public. In a way, its presence have continued to draw more viewers and encourage art collection. The two galleries combine to mount nearly 50 exhibits each year-featuring the best in painting, sculpture, prints, and drawings the contemporary Filipino artist can offer.
Westgallery.org aims to access and win over more art enthusiasts, not only within the Philippines but the world over.
